Episode 11 - Smuggler’ Notch Adult IFSA Qualifier 3*!

Are you ready for some thrilling action on the slopes? The Smuggler's Notch Adult IFSA Qualifier 3* is coming up on Sunday, February 25, 2024, and it's going to be epic! This event will take place on the legendary Madonna Headwall, one of the most challenging and scenic runs in the East. You'll get to see 99 of the best freeride skiers from all over the world, including Australia, UK, Norway, Hong Kong, Alberta, Quebec, California, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, West Virginia, New Hampshire, New York, Maine and Vermont. They will compete for points and glory, as well as a chance to join the elite Adult Challenger series and ultimately the Freeride World Tour.

Here's a sneak peek of some of the Athlete's that you'll be able to see....

• THE VETERAN.....Caroline Price is a legend in the Smugglers' Notch Extreme Skiing Challenge. She has been competing in this event for many years, and has won more titles than any other athlete. She is known for her technical skills and control on the steep and rugged Madonna Headwall. She has dominated the 45+ category in 2017 and 2018, and has also claimed the overall women's category in 2019 and 2020. She was the recipient of the prestigious Fly'n Ryan Award in 2020, which honors the spirit of adventure and passion for skiing. Caroline is back to defend her crown against the largest women's field ever, with competitors from all over the world. She is an inspiration to all skiers and a true veteran of the sport. Don't miss her amazing performance on Sunday under the Madonna Lift!
  

• THE ROOKIE....Griffin Larson is a rising star in the freeride skiing scene. He is making his debut in the adult qualifier after a stunning performance in the Junior 3* event, where he took the first place with his impressive runs on the Madonna lift line. Griffin has also represented the USA in the 2024 Yeti Freeride Junior World Championships in Kappl Austria, where he finished 18th among the best young skiers in the world. This was his second time competing in the prestigious event, which showcases the future of the sport. Griffin is sure to give the big kids a run for their money in the adult category on the Madonna Headwall. He is a fearless and talented skier who will surely put on a show on Sunday. Watch out for The Rookie!

• THE COACH...Matteo Campbell is not only a coach, but also a champion in the Smugglers' Notch Extreme Skiing Challenge. He has been coaching at the Smugglers' Notch Ski and Snowboard club since 2012, where he has mentored many young skiers, including Griffin Larson . Teo has also proven his skills on the Madonna Headwall, where he has won this event three times, placed second twice, and fourth once. He is one of the most consistent and experienced competitors in the field, and he knows the terrain like the back of his hand. Teo is ready to face his former student and the rest of the challengers on Sunday. He is The Coach, and he is here to take the crown!

• Other notable Athletes to watch!

  • Alonso Darias and Orion Cherney are both seeded 63rd in the world, and they have proven their skills and potential in previous events. Alonso was the runner-up last year and a multiple winner in his junior days at MRG. Orion was at Smuggs supporting the Aspen Valley Ski Club Telemark Team last weekend, and they showed some amazing skiing and results. You don't want to miss their runs on Sunday.

  • Another skier to watch is Grifen Moller, a former Freeride World Tour athlete and now a coach at SNSC. He is doing his first comp on the east coast, and he is sure to impress with his experience and talent.

  • And let's not forget Andreya Zvonar, who won this comp as a Junior, and is back after taking a break from competition for college. He is ready to reclaim his title and show everyone what he can do.
